Mekong giant catfish fishing in Vietnam is fast becoming the new Thailand with the lakes seeing more and more anglers venturing from overseas in search of new waters with huge hard fighting Mekong giant catfish of many different sizes. Everybody has heard of the new Mekong giant catfish world record caught recently from a lake in Vietnam, making this fine country stand head and shoulders above places such as Thailand.
The Ho Chi Minh lakes stocking is impressive as we have Mekong giant catfish over 60lb and with Mekong giant catfish now approaching 70lb it won’t be long before a new lake record will fall. There are also 220+ Mekong giant catfish between 10 to 45lb and about 50 Carp over 45lb and there are also lots of different species.

08:00 AM : Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh city or
if you arrival Ho Chi Minh Airport:
Once you have collected your bags and cleared customs, you will make your way out of the terminal building where there will be a fishing guide waiting to transfer you via private vehicle to the Lake. The transfer is 1/2 hour.
If you would like to stop at a supermarket or shop on the way to the lake just ask your driver who will then stop and wait for you whilst you buy your supplies.
Once you have arrived at the Ho Chi Minh lake you will be shown to your lakeside where you can then unpack and start your day fishing. Our guide will be around for a little while to help you with any questions you may have on the swim you have been located.
There are many Mekong giant catfish in Ho Chi Minh lake so be sure to keep a steady stream of bait going into your swim. These Mekong giant catfish swim around in good-sized shoals so once they have moved in on your bait it is important to keep them there. It is possible to build a good head of Mekong giant catfish if you keep everything smooth and keep the bait going in.
You will soon discover that these fish are super healthy and this is due to how they are handled by the guides and when the weather is hot and the water temperatures are high it is very important to keep the fish well watered.
After full day fishing at a prearranged time you will be transferred back to Ho Chi Minh city to hotel. The transfer is 1/2 hour.
