When you arrive in Danang, we’ll have arranged for a transfer to pick you up and take you to your hotel in Hoi An. Hoi An is, for many people, the highlight of their holiday in Vietnam. It is also a perfect halfway point between the north and south of the country in this suggested Vietnam trip.
Hoi An is well known for its enthusiastic tailors, its art galleries, and its narrow streets crammed with tiny wooden cafes. During this part of your holiday in Vietnam, you can lazily browse the streets and hire a friendly tailor to sew your made-to-measure outfit. There is plenty to do in and around the port town, including a cycle trip past the paddy fields to the beach, not too far from Hoi An. The beach is surprisingly quiet in the daytime, so you can stretch out on a lounger under a thatched parasol and enjoy the peace. At sunset, the beach will fill with locals who come here to cool off, chat, and play football at the end of a long working day.
Day 12: Hoi An – Free Time (B)
On the sixth day of your holiday in Vietnam you’re free to wander lazily through the tiny streets of Hoi An or head for the beach for some sun-kissed relaxation
Hoi An is jam-packed with tailors and you can have a good made-to-measure suit made for a fraction of the price you would pay in the US. You can also purchase made-to-measure dresses, trousers, shirts etc. This part of your Vietnam trip provides the perfect opportunity to update your wardrobe! Although the tailors can put together a suit for you in no time, it’s best to plan to have this done a few days before you travel to your next destination. This way any alterations can be made while you’re in town.
Optional tour: cooking class US$25 per person
Day 13: Hoi An – Beach Relaxation (B)
Today will be a full day of leisure, allowing you to enjoy the historical town of Hoi An at your own pace. The town is also known as the best place to arrange a local tailor to create a unique piece of made to measure clothing for you, so if you fancy having a garment made for you, Hoi An is the place for it. You can also learn how to create a beautiful silk lantern for yourself here.
However you can just stay on Cua Dai Beach for all day long rexation.
Cua Dai literally means the ‘big sea mouth’. Cua Dai beach is located in the area of Cam An Ward, about 4km to the north-east of Hoi An Town, Quang Nam Province. Day 14: Ho Chi Minh (B/L)

Enjoy a short water puppet performance and learn from your informative guide about this unique Vietnamese art form, which dates back as far as the 11th century. You’ll be entranced by lacquered wood puppets that appear to dance on water in a waist-deep pool.
After lunch at a local restaurant, take a 1-hour cyclo ride along Dong Khoi Street, formerly known as the Rue Catinat, which is the heart of old colonial Saigon. Pass by classic French-style landmarks such as Saigon City Hall and the Saigon Opera House, and pay a quick visit to the neo-Romanesque Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office nearby.
Make a photo stop at the Presidential Palace, renowned for its symbolic role in the fall of Saigon in 1975, and end your cyclo tour at Ben Thanh market, one of the liveliest areas of Ho Chi Minh City. You’re free to explore the market, packed with every conceivable commodity, before the return drive by private vehicle back to your hotel
Day 15: Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta (B/L)
The next two days of your holiday in Vietnam are dedicated to the Mekong Delta. The Mekong River, with its vast fertile delta, is the backbone of the economy in the south. At around 7:30am, the minibus will arrive to take you in the direction of Cai Be. From here, you’ll hop onto a boat and sail in a small group through the Mekong Delta. In Cai Be you’ll sail past colourful, floating markets, where vendors will offer their wares from their boats jammed with produce, dangling their produce in the air from a long pole.
Your Vietnam travels will continue as you sail through canals inhabited by the people of the Mekong Delta. Daily life will pass you by as you sail past small villages, rice paddies and family businesses- a real highlight of your holiday in Vietnam. While sailing through the maze of canals, you’ll visit one of the many islands in the Mekong – Vinh Long Island. After a lunch consisting of Mekong Delta specialities, you’ll sail for approximately 3 hours until you reach Can Tho, where you’ll arrive in time for sunset. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, for instance low water levels, this entire portion of the trip will be conducted by mini bus.
The boat will then take you to a simple but charming hotel for the night. It lies in Can Tho on the banks of the Mekong, where you can relax in the evening with a cool drink and watch the delta sunset before continuing with your Vietnam trip tomorrow.
Day 16: Mekong Delta – Phu Quoc Island (B)
Today you’ll leave your hotel at 6.00am for the next leg of your Vietnam holiday. The local boat will take you to the floating market of Cai Rang, which is the largest, most important, and probably the noisiest floating market in the Mekong Delta. In order to get close to all of the excitement of the floating market, you’ll transfer over into a bamboo rowboat. You won’t have to row during this journey and therefore you’ll have plenty of time to negotiate and purchase goods.
Then we take a morning flight from Can Tho to Phu Quoc Island. Arrival airport hotel staff pick up you to hotel/resort by shuttle bus or private car.
Phu Quoc Island is nicknamed the Emerald Island for its tropical greenery. It also has magnificent beaches, some of the very best in Vietnam. You’ll stay in a beach resort on peaceful Ong Lang Beach for the last few days of your Vietnam holiday. This is a spectacular stretch of ivory beach on the west side of the island, fringed by palm trees providing some welcome shade.
Days 17&18: Phu Quoc – Free Time (B)
During your stay on Phu Quoc Island you’ll spend the night in tastefully decorated rustic cabins that exude charm and warmth. There is an excellent restaurant with a sea view for romantic sunset meals and tasty fresh fish is regularly on the menu. You can stretch out on the white sandy beach or rock gently in a hammock under the palm trees with your nose in a book. If you’re feeling active, you can swim in the azure waters, snorkel, or even take a dive to explore the underwater world. There is a diving school on the island, and it’s very easy to arrange lessons.
More restless travellers can explore the tropical wilderness of the interior of Phu Quoc Island during this part of their Vietnam travel package. In 2001, almost 70% of the island was declared a National Park, so the ecosystems on the island have been preserved. It is also mountainous and almost completely covered in rainforest, with a number of natural springs for a quick refreshing dip. The best known and most accessible spring is called the Suoi Da Ban (also called Stony Surface Stream).
If you would like fishing in Phu Quoc Island, please mention this to us at the time of booking !
Day 19: Phu Quoc Island – Ho Chi Minh (B)
Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and today your Vietnam travel package must draw to a close. You’ll make your own way to the airport in Phu Quoc for the quick flight to Ho Chi Minh City (1 hour approx), where you will spend a last night in Vietnam
Day 20: Ho Chi Minh city Depart B)
